Shorten Your Long Iron Swing

Shorten Your Long Iron Swing

One of the reasons so many golfers cannot hit the long iron

shot is due to overswinging. These players are often

concentrating too hard on getting the maximum distance out

of the long irons. This can lead to a swing that is out of

control which in turn leads to disaster, usually with an

out of bounds ball.

A full backswing with the long irons is not required, but a

full shoulder turn is. Try using only a three quarters

backswing with using a long iron. This will ensure that

you are in control of your swing. It also promotes a good

rhythmic swing.
